The Little Death @ Conjunctions
My (really fairly long) short story, "The Little Death," will be appearing in the Fall 2009 issue of Conjunctions.
Appearing in Conjunctions is a great pleasure, and a rare one indeed. Conjunctions is a fantastic journal: the lineup for the upcoming issue includes William Gass, Robert Coover, Thomas Bernhard and Francine Prose, as well as Mark Doten and Tim Horvath-- I could go on, but you should just take a look for yourself.
Issue 53 will be "Hybrid Histories" which describes "The Little Death" perfectly. "The Little Death" is certainly its own thing, but the idea and its execution proved to be the seed of the (semi-biographical/semi-historical) novel that I am currently working on.
While you're at their site, you can read another one of my stories, "The Behavior of Pidgeons," which is part of Web Conjunctions. There is an embarrassment of riches in Web Conjunctions-- recent pieces include short stories from B. Kite and Kim Chinquee, and a great piece by Priscilla Long. Keep scrolling down and you'll also find Matt Bell, Norman Lock, and Melanie Rae Thon, among many, many others.
