Very pleased to have a review/conversation with Greg Gerke about William Gaddis's novel J R appear in the July issue of Open Letters Monthly. Greg and I discuss all kinds of things in the review, from silence to improv comedy, finance, iPhones, and exhaustion. Like the book itself, the resulting review is long, but I hope that, like the book, it is rewarding in equal measure. As Greg says, "the experience is like being subducted by a seismic wave."
